Fantastic Fun For Toddlers

PizzaExpress is changing and it all started in Richmond.  Inspired by the spirit of the first ever PizzaExpress which opened in Soho in 1965, they worked with the designer Ab Rogers, Italian chefs, a theatre director, a DJ, a fashion designer, and artists to create a new generation PizzaExpress in Richmond.

So why am I telling you this?  Well today for the first time since Thomas's arrival I took William out for some Mummy time.  We met his best buddy Harry and his mummy Nikki in Richmond to try out children's play dough time at PizzaExpress.  I'm not sure what we were expecting but what we got was a whole lot more.  When we arrived we were greeted with the most friendly welcome ever and reassured its a child friendly restaurant and so to relax and enjoy ourselves.

The children were presented with boxes of dough and flour and given the opportunity to roll, knead and cut shapes before placing them on the tray to be baked.  Whilst in the oven they were able to play in the children's corner, with interactive computers, colouring and toys.  To say they were delighted was an understatement.  We ordered a children's set meal between the two boys as their appetites are not enormous and were surprised at how generous the portions were.  For £6.45 the meal included a starter, main, dessert and bambinocinno, enough for two toddlers or one child.

Once their dough creations had cooked they were given a little bowl of hundreds and thousands and coloured tubes of icing sugar to decorate them.  The boys absolutely loved it.  They happily played whilst tucking into their pizza.

When we received the bill I was totally shocked at how cheap it was.  £7.50 each which included the boys lunch the play dough experience and our hot drinks.  The idea of having somewhere nice to eat out where you can truly relax and know your toddler is not an inconvenience in itself is fantastic but PizzaExpress has taken things a step further and made it great fun too.  I also have to mention how clean it is, especially the toilets which are equipped with nappies and wipes, a nice little touch which reinforces the family focus of the restaurant.

All in all a fantastic morning.  We will now be regulars and next time will be taking the Daddys along to try out more of the Pizzas.  If you have a PizzaExcpress near you then all I can say is go and check it out, I bet you'll be as pleasantly surprised as we were

I'll leave you with this slide show so you can see for yourselves.

ah what a lovely day out with your big boy. It looks like a great Pizza Express and what a great idea, I will need to check out to see if they do it at our local one.
